Autoloader Work | |
General Action Work | |
| This covers all manner of autoloader action armorer/troubleshooting/tuning/assembly work such as fitting new fire control parts, fitting thumb safeties, cutting tangs for extended grip safeties, blending safeties/frames/slides, smoothing out sharp edges, carry blending, trigger tuning, cutting 1911 frames for ramped barrels, cutting 1911 vertical impact surface, cutting slides for reverse plugs and full barrel/bushing fitting jobs. I hard-fit 1911/2011 barrels by machining the lower lug for perfect lockup with the magic click. If you have ever held such a gun and run the slide, you will know what the magic click is. This work is normally done on a complete handgun and can only be done by in-person shop visit. This work is done while you wait so you can see how it's done as well as answer questions give input on your preferences along the way. This gets you a true custom-fit-for-you experience that is not possible when a gun is sent out and various fitting decisions are made without your input. This work is done at shop rate based on the actual time it takes to complete. | |

Straight Crown Jobs | |
| Many poor shooting barrels can be traced to problems with the crown. The crown needs to be absolutely perpendicular to the bore for best accuracy. When the bullet leaves the bore, gas is released at very high pressure all the way around the bullet's base. If the crown were uneven, gas would release on one side first and this tends to disturb the bullet just as it sent on it's way downrange. This will show up as poor accuracy. Try this inexpensive service before you abandon a barrel that seems to be poor shooting. I use a specially ground high relief angle tool that only gets used for crowns and it gets re-sharpened often. The tool is pulled straight out from the bore so that no burrs are created at the end of the bore. The bore-crown junction will be flat, with a radius about half way out on the crown face. This creates a slightly recessed crown job. The crown face will be left unfinished. Picture | |
| Straight Crown Job | $55 |
Complex Crown Jobs | |
| This is a more complex crown job that applies to barrels that will not fit within the straight barrel services or for angle-cut crowns where the bore must be dialed-in perfectly before the angled crown can be cut. This service covers any angle of crown from 45 degrees (very deep cone) to the commonly requestred 11 crown which is very shallow. This service also covers stepped crowns as seen on Beretta Elite barrels. The crown face will be polished but will normally be left unfinished. Pictures: 15deg 15deg 15deg 20deg 20deg 20deg | |
| Complex Barrel Crown Job | $80 & up |
Shorten Barrel and Crown
| This service includes shortening the barrel to any length you specify and re-cutting the crown. The muzzle face will be left unfinished. | |
| Straight Barrel Shorten and Crown | $70 |
| Complex Barrel Shorten and Crown | $95 |
Barrel Threading | |
| The barrel gets dialed-in so that the bore is running as perfectly centered in the lathe with a live. The muzzle gets turned down to the required size and then threads are cut with a single point tool. This ensures that the threads will be perfectly concentric and parallel to the bore. The threaded area will be left unfinished. Picture | |
| Barrel Threading | $105 |
Shorten Barrel and Thread Muzzle
| This service includes shortening the barrel to any length you specify and threading the muzzle. Machined areas will be left unfinished. | |
| Shorten Barrel & Thread Muzzle | $135 |
Revolver Work | |
Revolver Inspection | |
| This is an inspection of a revolver action, cylinder, crane and barrel to ascertain the condition and determine what work may be needed. | |
| Revolver Inspection | $65 |
Revolver Action Work | |
| This covers all manner of revolver action tuning/timing work such as action smoothing, crane alignment, ejector rod alignment and length, cylinder endshake, sear/hammer tuning and hand fitting. This work is done at shop rate based on the actual time it takes to complete. | |
| Revolver Action Work | $130/hr |
Basic Revolver Crown Job
| This covers revolver barrels can be re-crowned without removing the barrel from the frame. I cut the crown with a piloted cutter with the revolver in the milling machine with the bore dialed-in to the machine's spindle. The crown face will be polished but will normally be left unfinished. | |
| Basic Revolver Crown Job | $80 |
Revolver Barrel Shorten and Crown
| This service includes shortening the barrel and re-cutting the crown. This service can hae a wide scope of work depending on if the barrel needs to be removed from the frame and if a dovetail cut is needed to mount a new front sight or if hole(s) are needed to add a screw-mount front sight so this work is done at shop rate based on the actual time it needs. Machined areas will be left unfinished. | |

Additional Services | |
Compensator Fitting | |
| The typical method to index a muzzle device to fixed bull barrels such as the Ruger MK series or Buckmarks involves the use of peel washers or O-rings. Neither method leaves a nicely finished look. Select from these options to fit your compensator by machining. I index compps to bull barrels by facing off the rear of the muzzle device or by facing off the barrel's shoulder if the barrel will already be in the lathe for other operations. I can also open up compensators for proper bullet clearance if they come undersized and need additional bullet clearance added. | |
| Compensator Indixing | $35 |
| Compensator Boring | $35 |
Permanently Attach Muzzle Device
| This service includes drilling through the installed muzzle
device and into the barrel, installing a blind pin, welding over the end of
the pin. This does not include barrel threading. This service is
required to convert a barrel shorter than 16" into a legal 16"+ barrel length. Welds will be
finished with oil to protect from rust. Picture
| Permanently Attach Carbon Steel or Stainless Muzzle Device | $70 |
| Permanently Attach Titanium, Aluminum, Inconel or Monel Muzzle Device | $100 |
Barrel De-Threading | |
| This is a compliance job to remove existing threads on a barrel. This can be acomplished in 2 different ways. The barrel can be shortened and crowned to eliminate the threads or the threads themselves can be turned down so that the barrel remains the same length and sticks out of the slide like it did orginally. Machined ares will be blued as long as the barrel material will react to touchup bluing. | |
| Straight Barrel Thread Removal | $55 |
| Straight Barrel Shorten & Crown De-Threading | $70 |
Stuck/Broken Screw removal |
$50 & up |
| It seems that many slide-mounted optics screws are prone to either breaking off or stripping out. This service covers removing stripped out or broken screws and correcting the threads in the slide/frame/barrel for use with a new screw. I often have replacement screws on-hand as well. | |
Blast and Parkerize |
$130/hr |
| Any visible exterior frame/slide or barrel work on chromoly barrels will generally require the parts to be refinished. I offer parkerizing or media blasting as a refinishing options. Barrel threading and crowning can generally be touched up with simple touchup bluing, but the finish does not match parkerizing. If your parts have a few scratches and you just want it to look new again, this is what you need. Picture | |
Glass Bead or Sand Blasting |
$130/hr |
| This service mostly applies to stainless steel parts. As machined, stainless parts are shiny silver. After glass bead blasting, they will be a nice matte gray. We use glass beads by default on stainless parts, but we can also use aluminum oxide sand which is a rougher blast more appropriate for painting. Sandblasting leaves a darker finish than bead blasting. Specify sandblasting in the comments section of the service form if you would like the parts blasted with sand instead of glass beads. | |
